We at Royal Star Services thoroughly inspect and recommend customized termite control plans to protect your property from termites.
We have fifty-two years of experience treating more than thirty-five thousand buildingsin Mumbai against termites.
Customers can avail of our termite treatment forbuildings’ pre-construction and post-construction anti-termite treatments.
We protect your home from termites through our anti-termite treatment when your building isunderconstruction. Royal Star termite control services start with pre-construction anti-termite treatment.
Termite controlis most effective when we carry out termite pest control beforebuilding construction.
After your building is complete and you have laid theflooring,we have limitations in creating an effective termite barrier at your home when offering our termite control services.
Pre-construction anti-termite treatment service commences half a meter below the ground, is affordable, and acts as a great selling point for the property’s buyers.
When it happens before construction, the cost of anti-termite treatment pays for itself by protecting the building structure after its construction when people use it.
Pre-constructionanti-termite treatment happens in the following three stages.
In stage 1 of our anti-termite treatment, we treat the consolidated earth with 5 liters of termiticide per square meter before a construction crew lays a slab on the floor. Further construction mustn’t disturb the soil treated against termites for effective termite control. Well-rammed soil that disallows seepage is treated with 5 to 7.5 cm deep holes of 12 mm diameter at a 15 cm gap to allow saturation of the termiticide and helps in effective termite pest control.
In stage 2 of our anti-termite treatment, we treat the soil along the building’s internal wall with termiticide at the rate of 7.5 liters per square meter of the vertical surface of the sub-structure to 30 cm depth. In addition, we apply termiticide to a shallow channel along the wall through a 12 mm diameter steel rod pierced to a depth of 30 cm every 15 cm to uniformly disperse the termiticide to ensure effective termite pest control.
In stage 3 of our anti-termite treatment, we treat the untreated earth refill along the external perimeter of the completed building by rodding at 15 cm intervals to a depth of 30 cm to expose the foundation wall surface. Then, we pour termiticide emulsion along the wall at the rate of 7.5 liters per square meter of the vertical surface and tamp back the earth into place to complete our anti-termite treatment.
In termite control after building construction, to stop and prevent termite movement from the soil, we drill holes inside your premises at wall-floor junctions or just above the skirting at an angle of 45 degrees.
We drill the holes along the side of the entire outer wall at approximately 30 cm or 12-inch intervals. Then, we pour a pesticide emulsion into these holes to soak the masonry as part of our anti-termite treatment service for effective termite control.
If your premises are on the ground floor, we treat the partition walls in our post-construction anti-termite treatment. We don’t drill on the partition walls above the ground floor because the termites cannot penetrate the mechanical barrier of the RCC slabs.
Our termite control services take us two to three hours to treat an apartment of about seven hundred square feet.
For a one-year termite control AMC, after the first anti-termite treatment at the start of the contract, our termite control technician will visit your premises for an inspection once a year and two times for the two-year AMC.
In termite control AMCs, we carry out re-treatments against termites without additional cost if there is a recurrence of termites, either by termite control spray or by drill-and-fill termite treatment described above.
Royal Star Services termite control services cover the anti-termite treatment price without a new charge if there is a termite recurrence after its termite treatment.
We generally detect termites during our inspection, or you may find them in the interim of two of our inspections. In either case, our termite control services protect your building through the free termite treatment of any wood or other building part during the contract warranty period.
You can sign up for a five-year comprehensive termite treatment contract with Royal Star Services for your entire building to avail a five-year warranty against termite infestation. In a five-year contract, we use the following parts of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) specification for our termite control services:
We create a chemical barrier between the termites in the soil and the treated building in our termite control service with a five-year warranty.
We drill holes as close as possible to the plinth wall 30 cm. apart if the building has a concrete cover or masonry apron around the walls.
We pour a termiticide into the soil through equidistant holes to create a chemical barrier to prevent termites or kill them if they cross it for an effective termite control service.
If your building is on pillars, we drill holes around them for anti-termite treatment and apply termiticide into the soil through those holes for termite control.
We do the internal anti-termite treatment at the base of masonry walls and woodwork like we described above in the process of one-year AMC for post-construction anti-termite treatment.
We do effective termite control in the soil when we treat your building at the ground level.
Further, on all building floors, we protect susceptible woodwork in doors and windows by anti-termite treatment like the one we do on wall skirting.
We spray termite-infested areas in the walls and spot treat the ceiling against termites by termite control spray.
We give a five-year anti-termite treatment warranty for comprehensive termite treatment of a building. During the anti-termite treatment warranty, we treat the building at no cost of anti-termite treatment if there is a termite re-infestation.
Our termite inspection visits determine whether there has been any termite re-infestation. If there is termite re-infestation, we do a corrective treatment at no added cost. If you spot termites during the tenure of our anti-termite treatment warranty, you can call us to treat the affected part of your premises. We carry out such re-treatments either by termite control spray or drill-and-fill treatment.
Avoid moisture accumulation at your home’s foundation, as water attracts termites.
Divert rainwater through functioning downspouts, gutters, and splash blocks.
Ensure ventilation in crawl spaces to regulate and control humidity.
Empty the dustbins in your house regularly.
Eliminate soil contact with structural wood by keeping a gap of more than one inch between the soil and wood at your home.
Termites are winged insects of the insect order Isoptera and feed on decaying plant materials. Termites’ guts have a cellulose-degrading enzyme to help them feed on wood, paper, cloth, straw, or other cellulosic material.
Subterranean termites are most destructive as they build distinctive tunnels or “mud tubes” to reach food sources and protect themselves from open air. Unfortunately, termites are not visible when moving inside mud tubes and may cause extensive damage to wood internally prior to detection.
Three distinct castes of subterranean termites differ physically : reproductives , workers, and soldiers. The reproductives include the king, queen, and alates, of which the termite queen is integral to a colony’s growth and isthe largest member, while the king is much smaller.
Alates, swarmers, have long, dark brown to almost black bodies and translucent, slightly milky-colored wings. Their bodies are 0.67-1.27 cm long, and their wings may have a few barely visible hairs. Unlike swarmers, workers and soldiers do not have wings.
Workers are about 0.67cm or less in length and cream. They have small jaws to chew away at wood and move materials.
Soldiers have large mandibles, rectangular heads, and flat and widebodies.
Subterranean termite infestations can occur inside or outside a home. However, the presence of mud tubes is the most common sign of termite infestation. Mud tubes are long tunnels of wood and soil to protect termites from drying out as they travel from the soil into a building.
Other signs of subterranean termite infestation are softwood that sounds hollow when tapped, darkening, or blistering of wood structures, uneven or bubbling paint, and small piles of termite feces near a mud tube.
Discarded wings near doors or windowsills indicate that termite swarmers have entered and may have infested the home.
These ‘white ants’ are termites originating from soil and moving inside the mud channels. They feed on wood, paper, or anything containing cellulose. They attack your furniture, doors, fixtures, documents, clothes, and even currency notes. When you see a mud channel, termites inside damage your property by feeding on cellulosic material.
If your neighbor has got the anti-termite treatment done, and there were termites in their house, termites may enter your home. Termite infestation at your home can happen because termites originate from a colony beneath the ground and invade buildings in search of their favorite food, i.e., wood and paper (or anything containing cellulose).
Termites are hidden invaders that destroy property. The only way to prevent termite damage is by creating a chemical barrier around your home that repels termites
Though the termites live in the soil, they can infest high-rise buildings with more than 100 stories, moving from the ground to the top floor.
No. A treatment against termites involves specialized skills and techniques. Do-it-yourself sprays will remove the termites on the surface and not eliminate their infestation. Therefore, we do not recommend that homeowners carry out termite treatment themselves and should leave it to a professional pest controller likeRoyal Star.
We have found that many housing societies are facing the problem you described. For environmental reasons, governments are restricting anti-termite chemical pesticides with long-duration protection. Manufacturers of newer generation anti-termite chemical pesticides have found three to five-year effectiveness of their products.
Pest control operators offering a 10-year anti-termite warranty are risking their reputation as they may be unable to fulfill it. You have no option but to go in for post-construction anti-termite treatment; though you had availed of pre-construction anti-termite treatment just three years ago, it came with a ten-year warranty.
As you have found termites, you can assume that the first treatment is no more effective.
White powder formation is typical of wood borer infestation by powder-post beetles. The powder post beetles are tiny cylindrical brownish or black insects whose larvae convert wood into fine powder. The powder post beetle larvae feed extensively on wood and live for many months. These insects make a pin head size hole on the wooden surface, causing white powder residues, the first sign of their infestation. A professional pest controller like Royal Star Services can provide a solution against powder post beetles.
